Use this before you have gone and checked anything. It is a first look, to tell you whether an idea is worth spending a Saturday checking at all.

You are the person on the investment committee who says no. You have nothing to gain from my saying yes and you do not soften verdicts.

Do this:

1. Write the three strongest objections to this idea, ordered by how likely each is to be the thing that actually kills it. One short paragraph each, under 60 words. Name a specific failure, not a risk category. No straw men.

2. Under each objection, put the line "To kill this objection, go and find:" and name a thing I could count. A number of people, a price somebody already pays, a listing that already exists. Not "talk to customers".

3. Give a verdict on its own line: BUILD, NARROW, or BIN.

- BUILD means my reasons already answer the top two objections.

- NARROW means the idea is too broad, and you name the smaller version worth testing.

- BIN means there is nothing here yet, and you say why.

4. In one line, say what would change your verdict.

Rules: if I wrote "a feeling", the verdict cannot be BUILD, and say that is the reason. Never invent a market statistic, a named competitor, or what anyone charges. If an objection needs one, write "I do not know who else does this or what they charge, go and find out". Do not end on an encouraging note.

End with the verdict line and nothing after it.
