We keep cookies to a minimum — just what's needed to remember your choices and, only if you allow it, to understand how the site is used. Here's exactly what we set and how to control it.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. "Local storage" is a similar technology that lets a site remember a small amount of information on your device. Both are used here only for the limited purposes below — never to build an advertising profile of you.
The cookies and storage we use
1. Essential — always on. When you make a choice on our cookie banner, we save that choice in your browser's local storage (a small entry called bop-consent-v1) so we don't ask you again on every page. This is strictly necessary for the site to respect your decision, sets no tracking identifiers, and is never shared.
2. Analytics — only if you click "Accept". We use Google Analytics 4 to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used. We run it with Google Consent Mode: until you accept, Google Analytics sets no cookies. When you accept, it sets cookies named _ga and _ga_* that help recognise a returning browser for anonymous, aggregated statistics (page views, referring page, approximate country, device type). It never receives your name or email. You can withdraw at any time (see below), which stops these cookies.
3. Cookieless analytics — always on, no cookies. We use Vercel Web Analytics, which measures aggregate page views and referrers without any cookies, without cross-site tracking, and without personal identifiers. Because it sets no cookies and can't identify you, it needs no consent.
What we don't use
We do not use advertising or remarketing cookies, social-media tracking pixels (no Facebook Pixel), or any cross-site tracking. We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers.
How to control cookies
- On this site: use the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer at any time. It re-opens the banner so you can accept or withdraw analytics. Withdrawing takes effect immediately and turns Google Analytics back off.
- In your browser: every major browser lets you block or delete cookies in its settings. Blocking cookies won't break this site (our only non-essential cookies are the optional analytics ones), though it may affect other sites you visit.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy we'll change the "Last updated" date above. For significant changes we'll make it clear on the site.
