ChatGPT Cloudflare Messages
When using ChatGPT, you’ll sometimes see Cloudflare messages. These are just security checks to ensure you’re not a bot or doing something malicious.
If you get a 1020 ‘Access Denied’ error, read my blog post; How To Fix ChatGPT Access Denied Error–where I explain how to fix it.
Create a ChatGPT Account with an Email Address.
For this example, we will use the option to sign up with an email address, but don’t worry. Whichever method you choose for signing up, the steps are almost identical.

Other Ways To Create A ChatGPT Account
Want to use your Apple, Google, or Microsoft account to sign up for ChatGPT? You can– Just hit the ‘Sign in with Google’ button or login with your M365 or Apple ID. It’s that easy. This way, you’ll enjoy a seamless registration and mobile-friendly experience when creating your ChatGPT account.
The ChatGPT Interface
Alright, you’ve made it to the ChatGPT interface. The main feature is the input box, where you type questions or prompts. You can ask ChatGPT anything, from ‘How’s the weather?’ to ‘Can you help me craft 10 Instagram posts?’.
By default, everyone gets access to ChatGPT 3.5 for free. Upgrade to ChatGPT Plus, and you’ll unlock the even more powerful features. But more on that later.
This is where you type your prompts for ChatGPT to respond to. Prompts can be approximately 4000 characters long, giving you plenty of room to frame your questions- but I recommend you keep them short and to the point for the best results.
If you use specific prompts regularly, you can save them for quick access later using a Chrome extension or a tool like PromptPlus.
Here’s an example of how easy it is to use:
Type your prompt in the input box and press enter.
Wait for ChatGPT to respond.
Okay, so you’ve got ChatGPT to respond. Now what? Here’s what you can do:
Keep the chat going: ChatGPT has a great memory. It can remember every detail of the conversation and use it later. So, you can keep building on your ideas without repeating yourself.
Try again: Not happy with ChatGPT’s answer? Hit the Regenerate response icon and give it another shot with the same prompt.
Copy it: Love the answer and want to use it? Hit the clipboard icon to copy it.
Share the chat: Want to share the whole chat? Just click the Share Chat icon to get a unique link you can give anyone.
5. Rate the response: Like the response (or not), give it a thumbs-up or thumbs-down. You can even leave some feedback if you want.
Customizing Your ChatGPT Experience
Let’s dive into how you can personalize ChatGPT to get the most out of this chatbot. From voice chats to custom instructions, you can do plenty to make ChatGPT work better.
Internet Browsing Feature
Did you know that ChatGPT can browse the web? If you’re a ChatGPT Plus subscriber, you have access to the Browse with Bing feature. ChatGPT can pull from the latest web information, not just data up to January 2022.
To make your ChatGPT experience even better, use Custom Instructions. They let you tell ChatGPT how to interact with you and help you not have to repeat yourself. You can:
Choose your preferences (Eg: Don’t use technical language)
How you would like your responses (Eg: Always give four ideas to pick from)
Pick your voice and writing tone (Eg, Write in a casual tone)
Limit the topics (Eg: Don’t consider ‘XYZ’ when generating a response)
To get started, log into ChatGPT;
Click on your name, and then hit ‘Custom instructions.’
Enter your instructions.
Turn on ‘Enable for new chats’ and Save.
Now, you’ve got a completely personalized AI chat tool.
Voice Conversations with ChatGPT
Have you ever wished you could chat with ChatGPT instead of typing? As of April 2023, there’s still no built-in voice feature in the ChatGPT dashboard. But don’t worry. Here’s how you can still have a ‘voice chat’ with ChatGPT:
Text-to-Speech Software (TTS): TTS software reads ChatGPT’s text responses aloud. Many devices come with built-in TTS already.
Speech-to-Text Software (STT): Speak your thoughts, and the software types them out for ChatGPT. Many smartphones and computers have this feature built-in.
Voice Assistants: Some developers have integrated ChatGPT with voice assistants like Alexa or Google Assistant, allowing for voice-based interaction.
Custom Solutions: For the tech-savvy, build your own voice-activated ChatGPT experience.
The good news is that Android and iOS mobile phones have built-in voice technology. Just download the ChatGPT app, enable voice features, and you’re set. You can choose the voice and accent, allowing you to speak your prompts into ChatGPT for quicker responses.
Adding images to your prompts opens up a whole world of possibilities. For example, say you have a sick plant, snap a picture, upload it to ChatGPT, and ask what’s wrong. Or upload a holiday photo and ask where it was taken (like this picture from my trip to Zimbabwe). And that’s just scratching the surface of what you can do with ChatGPT’s image feature.
Here are simple instructions for attaching an image to a prompt in ChatGPT:
Have your photo ready on your device (JPG, PNG, GIF).
Start a new message in ChatGPT.
Click the ‘Attach Image‘ icon (it looks like a paperclip or a camera).
Pick your image and wait for it to upload.
Finish your prompt and hit ‘Send‘.
Remember, the look might change depending on your device or platform, but these steps should get you there.
